Civil & Commercial Litigation
When you have an important civil dispute, you want someone who is trial ready and not afraid to go to court.
I focus on the heart of the matter when representing clients in disputes ranging from breach of contract and negligence to civil fraud cases involving allegations of misrepresentation and deceit.
I have acted for both plaintiffs and defendants in negligence claims against various professionals, including professional trustees, directors, accountants, auditors, lawyers, architects, and valuers, and often in cases involving insurers or an insurance aspect.
I am experienced in obtaining freezing orders for clients to prevent defendants from dealing with assets and jeopardising the ability to enforce any judgment ultimately obtained, as well as in post-judgment enforcement procedures.
I have acted in a number of representative proceedings / class actions and proceedings involving litigation funders. New Zealand doesn’t yet have a detailed set of court rules for litigating class actions, so expert advice is crucial for parties who are thinking about bringing a class action, or who are facing a class action against them.
